Fights food insecurity through developing community food projects that help promote the self-sufficiency of low-income communities. Grants are intended to help eligible private nonprofit entities that need a one-time infusion of federal assistance to establish and carry out multipurpose community food projects.

FANRP research analyzes diet and nutritional outcomes and well-being of needy Americans, food program targeting and delivery, and program dynamics and administration. It funds a portfolio of extramural research, including grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts that are competitively awarded.
