National Agricultural Library

FNIC Coordinator - Healthy Meals

The position is with the Healthy Meals Resource System team located at the National Agricultural Library’s Food and Nutrition Information Center in Beltsville, MD. The successful candidate will perform many tasks including assisting with the development and maintenance of the Healthy Meals Resource System website.

IT Programmer Analyst

Position

The IT Programmer Analyst will work with various teams at the National Agricultural Library’s Food and Nutrition Information Center. This is a part-time, hourly position.

Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC), National Agricultural Library, 10301 Baltimore Avenue, Room 108, Beltsville, MD


Description

The successful candidate must be team player with a positive attitude, have the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, manage projects and priorities, coordinate multiple tasks, work independently, and have a strong skill set in Drupal development. The candidate must provide estimates of allocated work and meet mutually agreed timescales and deadlines.

Drupal-related tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Creating prototypes and proof-of-concepts.
  • Creating user-interface according to business requirements.
  • Creating new themes or modifying existing themes.
  • Doing data-discovery and designing data-base structure.
  • Performing data validations.
  • Developing custom modules.
  • Preventing spam through falsely created user accounts through website.
  • Writing SQL queries.
  • Writing code in PHP.
  • Testing the applications and fixing bugs.
  • Implementing security measures to prevent hacking.
  • Performing routine maintenance and updates to modules.
  • Using Drupal in creative ways.

The candidate will work with several different teams at FNIC. Web sites that will be managed include: the Web and Reference team (http://www.nutrition.gov and http://fnic.nal.usda.gov), SNAP-Ed Connection (http://snap.nal.usda.gov), Healthy School Meals (http://healthymeals.nal.usda.gov) and the WIC Works Resource System (http://wicworks.nal.usda.gov).


Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. A degree in related field will be considered provided the candidate can demonstrate the ability to program in Drupal. At least 3 years of Drupal 6/7 development experience (module development, theming, and deployment) is required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to work as a team member on a wide variety of projects, as well as the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work independently in a fast paced work environment is required. The candidate must have the ability to manage his/her own time to ensure delivery of projects in a timely fashion.

A passion for best practice coding is preferred.

Great written and verbal communication skills.


Salary
